Play8oy, read from fifteen of its slot screens

Nearly every screenshot the old site kept from Play8oy has the same frame around it. A gold coin and a Score box sit in the top left, four jackpot meters labelled Grand, Major, Minor and Mini fill the middle of the top bar, and Info, Settings and Home buttons wait on the right. Along the bottom run Lines, Play, Total Play, Win and a green Spin button marked "hold for autospin". So Play8oy is a casino app with a house style, and the reels in between change from Chinese gods to lorries to a cartoon safari.

The old page for the app itself was one paragraph of sales talk about "the most amazing online casino in Malaysia" and a Play Now button. Its only image was the logo. What follows comes from the forty or so game screens instead, most of them with the jackpot meters showing and the score box blurred.

What the Play8oy lobby looks like

We have no screenshot of the opening lobby, so we can't list its tabs or count its games, and these lobbies change with every update anyway. The fifteen games below are all slots, one of them a small fruit grid with a gamble button, and they fall into a few families.

The largest is the Chinese luck theme: Dragons Legend, Fong Shen, Fortune Panda, Fortune Tree, both God of Wealth games, Golden Rooster and Monkey King. Next come Western video slots such as Grand Blue, Hercules, Highroad King and Pirate, and a cartoon safari in African Wildlife. Fire Spin is the odd one, a three by three fruit grid.

The bet panel is the same idea everywhere. Lines shows how many lines are active, Play is the bet per line and Total Play is the two multiplied. A few games swap the Lines box for Level (Dragons Legend) or Gold Symbol (Fortune Tree and Golden Rooster), both of which play all ways. No screen shows a currency. Totals of 90 and 100 are typical. The score box is blurred on every screen here. Two pay tables also carry a version tag, ver.131217, in the corner.

Pirate, African Wildlife and Laura print a jackpot rule on their pay tables: a total bet of 50 (75 on Laura) qualifies for half the jackpot and 100 (150 on Laura) for all of it. In other words, the meters at the top reward bigger bets. Nothing on screen says how often they pay.

How a Play8oy ID and credit work

Play8oy has no sign-up form. An agent, or a website with back-office access to the app, creates a game ID and a password for you. To top up, you pay ringgit by bank transfer, DuitNow or e-wallet into the account they name, and they load the same amount as credit. To cash out you ask them, they take the credit off your ID and pay you, on their timetable.

That credit stays on Play8oy. Several games here also exist on other apps, Pirate on Mega888 for one, but a balance never moves across by itself. Keep a screenshot of every transfer, start small and try a small withdrawal early. No agent needs your online banking password or a TAC. The partner box further down is a separate online casino with its own accounts, and it does not issue Play8oy IDs.

Installing and logging in to Play8oy

The old download page gave Play8oy three buttons: iPhone, Android and Windows. The host behind them has been deleted, and we don't host, mirror or link any app file. People still search for a Play8oy APK or an iOS download, so here is what those involve.

On Android, a file from outside Google Play needs "install unknown apps" switched on for your browser or file manager, and you should switch it off again afterwards. A "latest" or "mod" APK from a random page can read your SMS codes and copy your logins, and no modified app can change how the reels fall, because results are settled on the operator's server. On iPhone, apps like this come through an enterprise profile that Apple revokes once it notices, and the app stops opening. No slot app needs accessibility, SMS or device admin rights. The only sensible source for the app and your login is whoever issued your ID. Type the password into the app's own login screen and nowhere else. The logins guide explains how fake login pages work.

Play8oy games on this page

Each of these once had a short page of its own, mostly translated review copy that often described a different game or a different version. The sections go by the screenshots, in alphabetical order. The other apps keep their own lists.

African Wildlife

A cartoon safari under acacia trees, with 50 lines marked on wooden signs at both sides. The animals are drawn for laughs: a roaring lion, a grinning elephant, a blue rhino, a zebra and a grumpy vulture, joined by a rucksack, binoculars, a compass on a map, a water bottle and a pith helmet.

The pay table puts five lions at 2,000 and gives a Wild that substitutes for everything but the Bonus. The Bonus is an explorer with a camera, and three or more anywhere start the African Wildlife bonus game. The old page described a woman beside the reels and a different studio's slot. Neither appears here. All our shots play 50 lines at 2 for 100.

Dragons Legend

Red reels between two gold dragon pillars, with "243 Ways" written on each side, so there are no lines to pick. The bet panel shows Level 30 and Play 3 for a total of 90, or Play 2 for 60.

The phoenix pays most, 1,000 for five, ahead of the lion dog and the koi at 800 and the turtle and red packets at 300. A green dragon head that isn't on the pay table turns up on the middle reels, which fits the old page's note that the dragon is the wild. In the shot above, gold coin stacks on the first three reels pay 300. Another screen shows "Free Spin 20 of 20" across the top, so a free spin round exists.

Fire Spin

The old page described five reels in a pyramid. The screens show a fruit machine: a three by three grid with arrows for three rows, three columns and two diagonals, which makes the 8 lines behind Play 10 and Total Play 80. A big Fire Spin wheel sits to the right.

Three blue sevens pay 1,000 and three red sevens 200. There is also an Anypay table that counts a symbol anywhere on the grid, from four cherries paying 4 up to a full screen of sevens at 4,000. A Double button lights up after a win, which is the gamble step the old text mentioned.

Fong Shen

Painted heroes on white tiles in front of misty peaks: an old sage with a white beard, a woman in a feathered headdress, a young man with a mark on his forehead and a red-haired girl. Below them come a blue dragon, a phoenix, a crane and a blue beast.

There are 9 lines, played at 2 each for 18. The bagua disc is the Wild. Five element coins, for Gold, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth, each pay their own all-of-a-kind prize, and three or more of them start the Gods Listen Up bonus, which replays itself if you win nothing in it.

Fortune Panda

A bamboo forest, and reels four symbols tall with "25 Liner" on the side posts. The pictures are a panda, a gold seal marked Wild, a gold ingot, a red drum, a jade pendant, red packets, oranges, apples and a paper lantern.

The old page called the panda the wild. The pay table says otherwise: the panda is the top symbol, 1,000 for five, and the seal is the Wild. Three gold ingots scattered anywhere start the free games, and the banner says more wilds get added each time. Our shots play 25 lines at 4 for 100, with one line win of 16.

Fortune Tree

A fortune tree hung with coins sits above the reels, flanked by four named jackpots: Dragon at 101,977, Phoenix, Tiger and Horse. Red lanterns hang at the sides and "All Ways" replaces the line numbers.

Each animal comes in a gold and a plain version, and the gold one pays far more, 300 against 30 for five dragons. The bet box reads Gold Symbol, 128 or 48, with Play 1. The old page said the tree shakes coins onto the reels after each spin. We have no screen that shows it.

God of Wealth

Two gods of wealth, one in red and one in blue, share the reels with two cheerful children, a red drum, a jade pendant, a string of firecrackers and an old coin. The red 發 tile and a silver 發 tile are both wilds.

Nine lines pay both left to right and right to left. The lion dance head is the Scatter: five give 50 free spins, four give 20 and three give 10. Two or more wilds unfold into a column of three, and the god sometimes drops extra wilds on the first three reels. The old text's oxen and tigers aren't on these reels.

God of Wealth 2

The sequel keeps nearly everything, including the characters, the 9 lines paid both ways and the lion dance Scatter. It adds the four jackpot meters and a new title, 财神发发发 2.

Every symbol has an All Same prize for filling the screen, 2,500 for the red god down to 50 for the coin, and the 發 wild pays 5,000 for five. Our shots play 10 a line for 90. The old page's ingot picking and replacement symbols in the free spins aren't shown.

Golden Rooster

Red and gold, with a treasure bowl above the reels and the Grand, Major, Minor and Mini meters built into the game art. An Active Symbols bar at the top shows a rooster, a jade disc, a silver ingot and firecrackers.

Like Fortune Tree, it plays all ways with a Gold Symbol bet of 48, and each picture has a gold version that pays far more than the plain one: 500 for five gold roosters against 50. A round red medallion is the Scatter, paying 20 free games for five and 15 for four. The rule also counts a purple 福 tile, which shows up in one of our shots.

Grand Blue

Clear blue water, reels of glassy card letters, and 25 line numbers down both sides. A killer whale is the Wild. It substitutes for everything but the Scatter, doubles wins and pays 10,000 for five by itself.

Sharks and turtles count as one symbol, 750 for five, and so do seahorses and starfish. The open oyster with a pearl is the Scatter, promising up to 33 free spins and up to a x15 multiplier. Every shot plays 25 lines at 4 for 100. One of them wins 100 on line 21 with four tens.

Hercules

Greek temples at the sides and parchment reels in the middle. The old page talked of 100 lines and euro bets. The side panels here say 20 lines, and the bet is 5 a line for 100.

Hercules himself pays most, 5,000 for five, followed by the lion at 1,000. Then come a horn of plenty and a jewelled belt, a shield and crossed swords, a bow and a spiked club, and gold and silver coins. One shot pays 50 on line 13 for three bows. The pay table shows no wild at all, so the green logo wild from the old text belongs to another version.

Highroad King

The pay table's own title is Highroad Kings JP. The trucks are the stars: a blue one pays 10,000 for five, a yellow one 5,000 and a green one 1,000. Next come a fuel can, petrol pumps, spark plugs, dice, a piston, a tyre and a steering wheel.

A chrome exhaust marked Scatter lands on reel 1 in our shot. Nine lines play at 10 for 90, and the rules say wins are paid left to right and right to left. The same truck theme appears on Joker123 as Highway Kings JP.

Laura

A jungle adventure slot starring a woman explorer with pistols, drawn to look like a famous video game heroine. That is why we describe it instead of showing it. Around her are a tribal warrior, a jeep, a compass, a whip and stone card ranks, with a single Jackpot meter at the top.

Fifteen lines play at 1 each. A gold idol mask is the Wild, which doubles wins and pays 10,000 for five. Three Free Game scatters give 15 free games at x3, and three more in the free games add more spins. A jackpot table asks for a total bet of 75 for half the jackpot and 150 for the full amount, and a "main game feature" adds extra wilds when a dinosaur attacks. The old page promised a tomb bonus. We didn't see one.

Monkey King

Sun Wukong in gold armour leads a cast from the old Monkey King legend: the Bull Demon King, two court ladies, a palm leaf fan, a gourd, the golden headband and a bamboo scroll.

Nine lines pay both ways. The pay table lists five Monkey Kings at 1,000 and adds an All Same row for a full screen, 5,000 for the Monkey King, paid once. The Wild replaces everything except a Bonus tile, and a picture shows two wilds on one row joining into a single staff. All our shots play 10 a line for 90.

Pirate

The cartoon crew from Pirate on Mega888 again: a captain with a hook, an officer with a spyglass, a woman pirate, a sailor with a tankard and a bearded pirate with a bomb, plus a parrot, a galleon, a skull flag, a flintlock and cutlasses.

This version explains more on its pay table. The gold coin Wild lands on reels 2, 3 and 4. A Bomb Wild on reel 3 can turn nearby symbols into wilds. Three treasure maps marked Bonus start the Pirate Battle bonus. Our shots play 20 lines at 5 for 100, one of them paying 30 on two lines.
